What is happening all the sudden?
Monday 22 June 2009 at 9:21 pmThe last days were really incredible.
In Germany the Pirate Movement really started growing. Having passed 1000 members only about a months ago we now already have over 2000. Even one of our MEPs left his party and is now a pirate. It is really wonderful to see so many people fighting for a free and democratic country?
Additionally, on Saturday people in all Germany started a big demonstration in serveral cities. But see for yourself.

I always thought I would exaggerate
Wednesday 11 March 2009 at 11:15 pmYou may that I often complain on this page about certain things my government does. However, I always though that I would overact the whole stuff a little especially when it comes to Wolfgang Schäuble.
But this week Schäuble told one of our major Newspapers (the "FAZ") that the German supreme court was wrong in declaring his laws as unconstitutional. He even said that they should "get voted into the parliament if they want to change something".
I don't think that anyone that belongs to a government should criticise its countries central organs and cannot belive how he thinks about our supreme court and constituion as just two more obstacles in his way.
Am I still exaggerating? I hope so :(
The Great Firewall of Germany
Thursday 15 January 2009 at 11:01 pmI was shocked today realizing that the german government wants to implent a similar filter into to the internet as china did.
Will we never learn that it is exactly freedom and knowledge that prevents crime and prejudice?
If you filter those pages they will still exist. Just that now nobody will know about it.
The Pirate Party ready for election again
Tuesday 16 December 2008 at 3:30 pmI want to keep this short but im quite happy that after the Hessian (a german federal state) parliament decided to have another election the Hessian Pirate Party found enough supportes (around 1440 in only some weeks) to join the election once more.
Even if youre not a supporter of my political standpoint. Remember political diversity is important for a democratic country.
Update: Every fifth swedish person would vote us according to the newest surveys
Is this the end of a liberal WorldWideWeb?
Saturday 15 November 2008 at 2:23 pmSome Days ago in Germany a law similiar to the Patriot Act in the USA passed the court and already the governement is taking down pages that show for example how to build bombs (what wikipedia explains too).
I am scared that this could mean the end of the internet i am used to. Getting any information in a few seconds was so easy but what if this goes own.
Forbid pages about hacking/writing viruses? Forbid pages talking about peer-2-peer networks or other distribution platforms that can be used for illegal purposes?
I don't want my children to grow up in a world without this amazing freedom of knowledge but I guess they have to...
I love Schaeuble
Tuesday 14 October 2008 at 7:52 pmAs you may know or not I am a big defender of human rights and especially privacy rights. Living in Germany I got used to people asking for more surveillance and I also already blogged about it.
Today i wanna talk about one special person who tries to restrict this: Wolfgang Schäuble, German Minister of the Interior.
My Favorite Actions of Schäuble:
- Allowing tanks at the Fifa Soccer World Cup 2006
- Trying to abolish the presumption of innocence step by step as it is "not important"
- Talking about the allowence of preventive assesinations (kill terrorist BEFORE they commit a crime)
- Introduction of surveillance of telephone and internet connections of every citizen
- Defending Guantanamo Bay detention camp
- Saying that the Iraq War is better than a "humbled superpower USA"

War is over (if you want it)
Saturday 04 October 2008 at 12:16 amWhat happens in this world is so painful. Religions, envy, egoism and nationalism push us into one war after another. Everything seems to be so avoidable but it is no matter how we see it something that happens every day.
The reasons for this I already pointed out. Somehow people start hating each other because the other one is different or has something we want.
The ability to talk gave us the possibility to trade and negociate. So why do we fight? Maybe it is just a relict from the stone age, or maybe we're just too dumb to realize that we waste all our power for this war-crap.
What do you think?
Modern globalization
Coupled with condemnations
Unnecessary death
Matador corporations
Puppeting your frustrations with a blinded flag
Manufacturing consent is the name of the game
The bottom line is money
Nobody gives a FUCK
Four thousand hungry children leave us per hour from starvation
While billions are spent on bombs
Creating death showers
- Boom, System of a down
The Renaissance of Democracy in Germany?
Tuesday 30 September 2008 at 3:37 pmI know this article pretty specific on the german audience but could be interesting for foreigns too.
I live in the german federal state "Bavaria". It's quite big so people would expect a lot political diversity in it. However the last 48 years one party hat the absolute majority (+50% of all votes). This year it all changed when the party dropped below 50% the first time after years.
Does this signalize a change in the political culture here in Germany?
First let me describe the wider context of these happenings.
In germany we used to have 2 big and 2 small parties. The big ones were the social-demokrats("SPD") and the christian-democratics("Union"). The small ones, a liberal and a green party only played a small role in the parliament.
Suddenly this twistet a little. We now have more community-oriented parties and also a leftish party which is mainly coming from the old soviet government in east germany.
This made our political world change a lot. And I like it not because I like these parties but how there is more variety in the parties I can vote for. Maybe now politicians are going to really do what they think the people want and are more scared of loosing popularity. Of course this can be seen in a bad sense as this may increase political ads and such nonsense but we don't have to be so pesimisitc all the time.
I myself belong to one of the German Pirate Party and feel like it' a good way to express my political opinion and maybe change the world a little.
Well, to sum up this article. Big parties are getting less popular, small parties are rising and political diversity increases. YES its a good thing :)
